new Matrix function

Post  Admin on Mon Dec 10, 2012 6:37 am

From a user:

I thought about an idea: Now in buttons you select a velocity in editor.
Would it be possible that instead of this fixed value one could ALSO take the value from some controller?
Like if my layout has 16 buttons for drum pads and 2 faders:
one fader could control velocity for some pads and another fader velocity for some other pads

I fully subscribe to this idea, I think it is really useful. It might even be possible to have this done in a more general way, to make it possible to send cc or note values relative to a slider or button value that determines the base value.

Idea

The controller could be also a sensor value (accelerometer or proximity).
To manage huge arrays of parameters this might be an idea:
Direct Mode-
The parameter matrix and 4 sliders at the left or right. Touching a parameter assignes subsequently one of the sliders to it. Every slider has a different colour and the choosen parameter gets highlighted with the same. Like playing guitar.
Latched Mode-
2 sliders at the left and right of the matrix. Every slider has a "assign" button ont the top or bottom. So two taps for each assigning. The matrix can have several pages.

Variables would be a good way to achieve this and more.
Surface Editor does this for example.
