momentary button function to stay on as long as button is pressed

Post  fozzie on Mon Dec 10, 2012 4:36 pm

I just made my first few layout sketches, one being a simple midi keyboard kind of template. However, it cannot get the buttons to behave as I would like (piano key function; momentary note-on for as long as the button is pressed). Now, the note is heard very briefly, but then switches off although the button is still pressed. Usefull for triggering samples in one-shot mode, but not for triggering synths or other stuff. Have I missed something or is it not yet possible?

You know, I grew up on analog synths, so you'd think that I build a momentary button properly! lol! I'll fix that after christmas....maybe sooner Smile

this makes some osc actions triggered with these buttons happen twice?
once on touch and one release.
having some problems with this.
could these button be split up in momentary buttons and "note on/off"-like buttons ?
is there a "wait time" after triggering we could set per button?

Would the button work better in your situation if you set the button as a 'push button' instead of a momentary button? That way a button press would only send the osc command once.

push is working a little better (with same forecolour and back colour)
but still if you push longer than 500ms it is triggered 2 times.

push - 500ms -- release
=
trig1---hold------trig2

this is for an action.

when i use it for ex "toggle click on and off"
i use a push button with different forecolour and back colour) to see the received daw state.
when i push the click button in dawosc, to toggle the click in the daw on, a little to long, the state is off again.

i think the following buttons are needed:

momentary : touch only (maybe a longer afterdelay on the state (colour) to be able to see it has been touched
push : touch only (no trig on release) like a toggle
momentary midinote on + off : touch(hold) + release

for the moment momentary + push both trigger like midinote on/off if you touch them long enough.

hope i'm able to make myself clear :-)

I just tried that on a push button and I see what you mean. I'll have the push button working properly later today.
