Send arbitary hex code

Post  bcslaam on Sat Jan 26, 2013 2:09 am

To control monitor switching in my studio as well as any other device that has an IR remote controller I currently need to be running a pc program such as event ghost or girder to translate osc or midi to hex code. This hex code is a very simple short string that gets sent to a device like a Global Cache gc-100 which then outputs to an IR blaster. That then controls the kvm switchers, blue ray players or monitor inputs/settings etc.

Please add the ability for a controller to send an arbitary string of hex code to any ip on any port. This would open dawosc up to another world. Including DMX as well.

that sounds like a cool idea Smile

I'll add it to the list of features I'm going to implement. This one sounds relatively simple to implement too Smile (famous last words! lol!)

Hi SORRY MISTAKE!!

Global Cache devices talk ascii not hex code. Please include ASCII.

eg

sendir,5:2,2445,40000,1,1,4,5,6,5

and also the | character is used

|0|1|2|

on a TCP socket port 5998

ah...ok...thanks for the new info Smile

The TCP part might be a little trickier, I'm not sure. I've never looked into sending data using TCP on the Android platform before.

I'll update my request list.

yeah sorry bout that but.

but isnt osc just sending similar data, it looks like ascii, can you fire it at a specific ip and port?

it would be so cool to be able to access devices by their infra red.

the system integration community is huge although i'm doing it for music production. multi touch environments are here to stay.

can I do anything to persuade you Smile

OSC commands always start with "/" and that's what DAWOSC is built for right now. So that would have to be tweaked.

I'm not sure what you mean by that since I've already put it on the feature list Smile
